If this is your first time in Gran Canaria you can follow these directions to your accommodation in the Agaete Valley.
It is not necessary to rent a car to stay at Casa Mimosa. If you are used to having a car on all your holidays, it will be difficult to do without one. But if you, like me, prefer to live without a car, you can use the guagua (bus) as a means of transport around the island. The buses in Gran Canaria are quite punctual and comfortable.
How to get to Agaete from Gran Canaria airport
Gran Canaria airport is on the east coast of the island. To get from there to Agaete you have several options.
Getting to Agaete by rental car
Most tourists in Gran Canaria rent a car. If you don’t want to give up the comfort of having your own car, we recommend that you pick it up directly at the airport. From there you just take the motorway to Las Palmas. When you reach the city’s oceanfront avenue you will find signs to Agaete. It is very well signposted and you’ll easily find your way. If you use Google Maps it will be even easier.
When you reach the village of Agaete you should look for the signs to El Valle. Three kilometres later you will find yourself at the entrance (on the left) to the Urbanización La Suerte. Casa Mimosa is located at Calle Guaydil no. 2.
Getting to Agaete by bus
The bus from the airport to Las Palmas is very fast and comfortable, I use it frequently when I am not carrying heavy luggage. You’ll find the timetables here. Once in Las Palmas, you have to get off at San Telmo and then take the direct bus to Gáldar. There are four buses a day that go from Gáldar to the Agaete Valley. You get off at the bus stop “La Suerte”, and from there you walk up to the house. This same bus, number 102, can be taken every time you want to go to Puerto de las Nieves for a swim or to eat a delicious fish.

If you can’t catch the last bus to the valley, you can instead take the 103 bus to Agaete (there are many stops, but it’s a priceless opportunity to soak up some local culture) and then take a taxi in Agaete. It’s just three kilometres to Casa Mimosa and costs less than 10 euros. Taxis are usually available next to the village church. If you can’t find one you can call +34928 554475 (in Spanish). Ask them to take you to “La Suerte”.
By taxi
If you want the comfort of a car but prefer not to drive, the best option is to take a taxi. Taxis can be found on the streets of Las Palmas or at the airport. Ask the taxi driver to take you to the Agaete valley. If they don’t know the area well, they may not know La Suerte. Just tell them that it is on the road to the valley (“Carretera del Valle”), 3 kilometres from the village, on the left hand side of the road. Don’t expect the taxi driver to speak English.
How to get to Agaete from Tenerife by boat
If you are travelling from Tenerife you are in luck because there is an inter-island ferry that will take you from Santa Cruz directly to the port of Agaete. It is a very comfortable catamaran with a bar-restaurant and shop on board. For convenience, you can take your own car (if it is a hire car, ask if you can take it to other islands) if you wish.
Once at the dock in Agaete, head towards the village and from there look for the signs to the Valley. After about three kilometres you will find the entrance to Urbanización La Suerte on the left hand side. Casa Mimosa is located at Calle Guaydil no. 2.
